WID-GBC Members,

Women in Defense Greater Boston Chapter (WID-GBC) is pleased to present the 2023 Election Ballot. We have multiple positions up for election and we encourage you to submit your nomination. If you have

been looking to take on a leadership position outside of your day-to-day role, this is the opportunity for you! We encourage you to reach out with any questions and we look forward to meeting you.

 

FY’23 WID-GBC Elections Committee

DEADLINE FOR SUBMISSIONS:  May 30, 2023 at 5pm

 

WOMEN IN DEFENSE GREATER BOSTON CHAPTER IS SEEKING NOMINATIONS FOR POSITION BEGINNING October 1, 2023 and running for a 2-year term. All WID-GBC members who meet the criteria are eligible for nomination to open positions.  Submitted nominations will be evaluated and approved by the Election Committee. Positions of Vice President and Treasurer will be taken to a vote by the membership. The Position of Scholarship Chair will be approved by the Board of Directors.

 

OPEN POSITION FOR NOMINATIONS:

  • Vice President: (2-year term) - The Vice President is an executive officer of the Chapter. It is the President’s responsibility to provide leadership, exercise general supervision over Chapter activities and to conduct Chapter affairs in accordance with the Chapter Operating Principles. The Vice-President exercises powers and duties of management similar to a general manager of a business and such other powers and duties as may be prescribed by the Chapter Board of Officers and Directors and/or WID/NDIA.

  • Treasurer: (2-year term) - The Treasurer is an executive officer of the Chapter. It is the Treasurer’s responsibility to manage the Chapter’s accounting and financial reporting, and to be a financial liaison to WID National. The Treasurer will conduct duties in accordance with the Chapter’s Operating Principles. The Treasurer exercises powers and duties of management similar to a Chief Financial Officer of a business and such other powers and duties as may be prescribed by the Chapter Board of Officers and Directors and/or WID/NDIA.

  • Scholarship Committee Chair: (2-year term) - The Scholarship Chair leads a Committee that awards the Chapter’s annual scholarship award programs. The Scholarship Chair is responsible for planning, establishing scholarship award criteria, coordinating scholarship selections, ensuring award allocations and coordinating awardee involvement in Chapter events.

 

 

CRITERIA FOR BOARD OF DIRECTORS CANDIDATES:

Must be a WID-GBC member at time of nomination (required). Currently serving or recently served on the WID-GBC Board or its committees is strongly preferred. Able to perform duties of the position and commit to the full term. Must work at a company that is part of the defense industrial base in the WID-GBC's geographic areas of Massachusetts, Vermont, New Hampshire, Maine, Connecticut, and parts of Rhode Island (zip codes 05501–05544, 02018–02791, and 01001-01985).

 

April 19, 2023 - Call for Nominations Released

May 30, 2023 - Nominations Due (All Positions)

June 30, 2023 - Release Election Ballot for Executive Positions (VP and Treasurer) & Announce Board Position for Scholarship Chair

July 15, 2023 - Election Ballot Closed

August 1, 2023 - Election Results Announced

October 1, 2023 - New Positions Officially Start

The ideal nomination will:

Include a letter stating the full name of the candidate, provide WID Membership Number, the position for which they are being nominated and address the following topics as appropriate:Effective leadershipReputation for strategic thinkingRespect in the professionAbility to promote WID-GBC organizational goals and broadly represent the WID-GBC membershipTime commitmentAny other pertinent informationInclude a current resume For other than self-nomination: State how the author knows the applicant and why the applicant is a strong candidate for the position.
