WID-GBC Members,

Women in Defense Greater Boston Chapter (WID-GBC) is pleased to present the 2023 Election Ballot below. Please check your inbox for an email to cast your vote. 

 

FY’23 WID-GBC Elections Committee

DEADLINE FOR VOTES:  August 20th, 2023 at 5pm

 

  • President: (2-year term) - The President is the principal executive officer responsible for supervision and control of all business and affairs of the Chapter. The President presides at all meetings of the Officers, Board of Directors and members. The President shall perform all duties of the Office of President, which includes but is not limited to, overseeing all planning, financial, operational, programmatic, fundraising, Board recruitment & mentorship activities of the Chapter, and such other duties as may be prescribed by the Board of Directors from time to time. Additionally, the President will serve as a liaison to WID National as well as the local NDIA Chapter. The President ensures Chapter affairs are in accordance with the Chapter Operating Principles and Chapter Manual (available upon request).

CRITERIA FOR BOARD OF DIRECTORS CANDIDATES:

  • Must be a WID-GBC member at time of nomination (required)

  • Currently serving or recently served on the WID-GBC Board or its committees is strongly preferred

  • Able to perform duties of the position and commit to the full term

  • Must work at a company that is part of the defense industrial base in the WID-GBC's geographic areas of Massachusetts, Vermont, New Hampshire, Maine, Connecticut, and parts of Rhode Island (zip codes 05501–05544, 02018–02791, and 01001-01985)

 

​ELECTION SCHEDULE:

  • July 7, 2023 - Updated Call for Nominations Released

  • July 23, 2023 - Nominations Due (All Positions)

  • August 2, 2023 - Release Election Ballot for Officer Positions (President, Vice President, Treasur 

  • August 20, 2023 - Election Ballot Closed

  • September 6, 2023 - Election Results Announced

  • October 1, 2023 - New Positions Officially Start

 

INSTRUCTIONS FOR SUBMITTING NOMINATIONS:

WID-GBC members are eligible for nomination for open positions. Any questions, Chapter Manual requests, and letters of nomination should be addressed to:  WID-GBC Election Committee Chair and Past President, Karen Krause-Bencal (617-520-4172, kkbencal@k2cinc.com).

 

The ideal nomination will:

  • Include a letter stating the full name of the candidate, provide WID Membership Number, the position for which they are being nominated and address the following topics as appropriate:

    • Effective leadership

    • Reputation for strategic thinking

    • Respect in the profession

    • Ability to promote WID-GBC organizational goals and broadly represent the WID-GBC membership

    • Time commitment

    • Any other pertinent information

  • Include a current resume

  • For other than self-nomination: State how the author knows the applicant and why the applicant is a strong candidate for the position.
