The Military and Veterans Outreach Chair at Women in Defense Greater Boston Chapter (WID-GBC) has a vision to harness the potential of our military personnel and veterans by providing a community of support with access through networking events and finding the right transitional path into careers and civilian life.

WHAT IS WID?

Women in Defense is an affiliate of the National Defense Industrial Association, a non-profit educational association representing all facets of the defense and technology industrial base and serving all military services. WID’s mission is to cultivate and support the advancement and recognition of women in national security.

  • WID is a 501(c)3 National Security Organization

  • Affiliate of the National Defense Industrial Association (NDIA)

  • Begun in 1985, became an affiliate of NDIA in 2014

  • First chapter established in 2011

  • Currently >20 Chapters

  • 4000 members (approx.)


Goals of the Military & Veterans Outreach Chair:

  • Provide networking opportunities for local veterans and active duty personnel

  • Help military personnel and veterans transition their skills and experience to job-related opportunities

  • Increase WID-GBC’s awareness about transitioning military personnel

  • Integrate the veteran community and veteran-friendly companies

  • Establish a mentor-mentee program for military personnel and veterans

  • Promote events of interest to local military personnel and veterans
