Call for Board Member Nominations

DEADLINE FOR SUBMISSIONS: September 21, 2026

 

WID-GBC IS SEEKING NOMINATIONS FOR THE FOLLOWING POSITIONS BEGINNING October 1st and running for a 2-year term. All active WID-GBC members who meet the criteria are eligible for nomination to any open positions. The positions will be taken to a vote by membership. 

                                                                                                                               

OPEN POSITIONS FOR NOMINATIONS:

WID-GBC Board Positions

VP - STEM: The Vice President of STEM leads regional student outreach and scholarship programs targeted at encouraging women to pursue science, technology, engineering, and math careers in defense.

  • Reports directly to the Chapter President and is a member of the Executive Committee.

  • Partners with local colleges and universities (such as UMass Lowell and UMass Dartmouth) to run networking events, panel discussions, and "Careers in Defense" programs.

  • Oversees the presentation and administration of chapter regional STEM scholarships for women pursuing education in national security fields.

  • Connects students and alumnae with industry and government professionals through interactive mentoring and technical lightning talks.

  • Supports the chapter’s core mission to cultivate a diverse and inclusive talent pipeline for the defense and national security workforce

  • Acts as a coach and mentor to early-career chapter members, helping them build leadership skills.

  • Opportunity to participate in the NDIA New England Education Committee.

  • May have the opportunity to attend the WID National conference and/or the NDIA leadership conference representing the chapter

 

Secretary: The Secretary manages chapter records, administrative organization, and governance compliance.

  • Reports directly to the Chapter President and is a member of the Executive Committee.

  • Plans and schedules Board of Directors meetings, executive committee meetings, and other needed meetings for the WID-GBC team.

  • Maintains official chapter records, including meeting minutes and the Chapter Manual.

  • Ensures the organization runs according to its established bylaws.

  • Develops and fosters effective organizational processes and operational procedures.

  • Acts as a coach and mentor to early-career chapter members, helping them build leadership skills.

  • May have the opportunity to attend the WID National conference and/or the NDIA leadership conference representing the chapter

 

WID-GBC Committee positions

 

Several committee leadership positions (chairs and deputy roles) are also available.  Active Committees: Marketing, Program Planning, Sponsorship, Scholarship, and Membership.

 

CRITERIA FOR BOARD OF DIRECTORS AND COMMITTEE CHAIR CANDIDATES:

  • Must be an active WIDGBC member at time of nomination.

  • Previous service on a WIDGBC or similar committee, council, or task force or equivalent, desired

  • Board of Director and Committee Chairs must declare any volunteer roles with other associations and societies

           

INSTRUCTIONS FOR SUBMITTING NOMINATIONS:

Board position nominations should include:

  1. A letter of recommendation

  • Full name of the candidate and position for which they are being nominated

  • Respect in the profession

  • Effective leadership

  • Reputation for strategic thinking

  • Ability to promote WID-GBC organizational goals and broadly represent the WIDGBC membership

  • For self-nomination: State goals and vision for the role

  • For other than self-nomination: State how the author knows the applicant and why the applicant is a strong candidate for the position.

  1. Notification of interest (letter of recommendation for committee position not required)

  2. Current resume
