The 2017 Women in Defense National Conference was held at the Crystal Gateway Marriott in Arlington, VA on June 13, 2019. This conference brings together leading change agents, innovators, and influencers from the military, defense industry, government, and academia.

The theme was women make up approximately 51 percent of the talent available to tackle America’s toughest national security challenges. In government, industry, and academia, women provide critical diversity of thought to drive innovation. The one day conference was empowering women as well as creating a more inclusive workforce and secure nation. Members of the WID-GBC heard inspirational remarks from top industry executives, subject matter experts, and government officials on a variety of topics to include: the national security landscape; acquisition and technology; innovation, STEM, and academia; coalition building; leadership; and best practices in communication and negotiation.

Women In Defense is proud to recognize extraordinary leadership, strategic impact, and the potential to inspire women to serve in national defense and national security. Women In Defense hosts its annual Service to the Flag Award Ceremony in recognition of one top government leader and one distinguished industry leader who have served in national defense and security, supported military service members, or facilitated partnerships between industry and the military.
